i would add two more: 1. elimination of the electoral college. one vote in iowa is the same as one vote in nyc. for congress or on state/local levels districts are to be created and maintained by a neutral impartial agent and based solely on geography and population and not demographics. this will prevent the jerrymandering so that an area with an overwhelming minority population can be broken up and put into several different voting districts thus diluting the minority influence and representation.

2. there needs to be an independent body that inforces truth in advertising for political campaigns. volvo cannot run ads saying their car goes 300 miles per hour and gets 150 mpg (whether they drop it out of an airplane with the engine running to make this a half-truth or of they just outright lie) if it is not true. the same should be applied to political advertising (and is in canada).

Hello "Emperor"
Maybe a few of more things that are wrong:
1. Bills do not have to be be resolved, meaning passed or defeated for cause.
2. The legislature permits elected officials to avoid committment by allowing the "No Recommendation" vote.
3. The open meeting law doesn't apply to the legislature.
4 A total accounting of legislation is not available showing the status of all introduced legislation.
5. Hearings and sustantive resolution of bills is not conducted outside Juneau and outside the control of legislative leadership.
6. Individual legislators can choose constituents from outside their repsective districts without detailed explanation.

Perhaps additional fixes:
1. Enforce Rule 24 of the Joint Legislative Rules - Ban the ability of a Committee Chairperson to simply not conduct hearings.
2. Require electronic or other record of any meeting between a legisaltor and any non-consituent where pending legislation is discussed.
3. Open the initiative petition process to electronic signature gathering.
4. Ban the "No-Recommendation" Vote - they wanted the job to decide issues.
5. Participate in Statwide Legislative Hearings conducted year round as necessary.
