The New York Times

Mr. Chertoff said that he had advised Gov. Janet Napolitano of Arizona, nominated by President-elect Barack Obama to succeed him as homeland security secretary, that “I put helping Mexico get control of its borders and its organized crime problems” at the very top of the list of national security concerns.

Ms. Napolitano’s confirmation hearing begins next week. Her office denied requests for an interview.

In the wide-ranging interview with Mr. Chertoff, two weeks before he leaves office, he suggested that his controversial efforts to rapidly build a fence along nearly 700 miles of the Mexican border, as well as his bolstering the size of the Border Patrol, were part of the push to defend against drug violence, not just to control illegal immigration.

Wow. Really?  How many of the 9/11 terrorists made their way into the US by way of our border with Mexico? None.  Why? Because our government is more concerned with making sure migrant workers and pot smugglers don’t make their way over the border, than they are about those that truly intend to do us harm.  This is what the US Patriot Act and the increased security at our airports is all about – the War On Drugs.  It has nothing to do with “national security”.  It has everything to do with bigotry, racisim and the drug (pharmaceuticals) industry.

I’ll be watching to see how President Obama approaches this.

KansasCity.Com Sarah Palin should be CEO of General Motors

Posted by: emperor in Alaska, Palin, Politics

It’s hard not to notice that people still have an intense interest in Sarah Palin. And others are still apoplectic about the government loan to GM. So in my mind, it was like chocolate and peanut butter coming together to make a delicious candy bar: Sarah Palin should be the next CEO of General Motors.

Re:More from the ADN Politics Blog ~ Palin

Posted by: emperor in Palin

More from the ADN Politics Blog. Come on Palin supporters, where are you at? I know you’re visiting, don’t be shy, step up in defense of your Queen.  Your silence is deafening.  Post your comments here instead of sending me emails that you know I won’t make public.  Unlike teamsarah.org, this blog welcomes opposing points of view.

@michigan ~”It seems that when Palin-haters have no answer for Palin defenders–they accuse us of being angry.To me, anger is when you constantly and consistently try to demean someone(Palin)for whatever reason.”

People here (ADN) have responded to every false and stupid claim of the Queen’s court. Those responses have been largely ignored by you and all the other of the Queen’s devotees. Pick any of my posts over the last couple of days and respond with something even close to intelligent to prove me wrong.

@michigan ~”maybe you libs should try to depend on yourselves for a change instead of expecting your Gov to clothe and feed you.”

What are you talking about? Where do you get the idea that Alaskans want Queen P to clothe and feed us? We’d be happy if she just worked with the oil industry to develop our resources to create jobs. She has done nothing other than alienate the most important industry in our state.

@michigan ~”maybe you can just vote her out in the next election. Hopefully you will not get someone worse.”

It’s hard for me to imagine anyone that could be worse. Hopefully Alaskans have learned their lesson and will vote for someone who is intelligent, a leader, and honest. We’ve already have had enough of the ignorant, populist, liar Palin.

@michigan ~”You have valuable resources in Alaska–she seems to know that–other politicians would rather not buy your natural gas and oil.”

Everyone knows we have valuable natural resources. That’s Alaska 101. What is required is a leader that can work with the leaseholders to develop those resources.

RE: ADN Alaska Politics Blog – Palin’s comments on first grandchild

Posted by: emperor in Palin

Since the change of software over at ADN, it’s clear that they are not interested in hosting discussions between posters.  So in the interest of providing a venue for dialogue, I’ll host discussions here for those that are interested.

@steptoe ~ “Sarah bashers are just Desperate at this point.”

The only desperation I see is with Queen P and her deaf, dumb and blind legion of idiots.  Desperate to be taken seriously. Desperate to be relevant. Desperate to be in the spotlight.

@steptoe ~”Created Alaska’s Petroleum Systems Integrity Office”

Which cost how much? Who do they employ? What exactly have they accomplished?

@steptoe ~”Created Climate Change Subcabinet for Alaska.”

Which cost how much? Who do they employ? What exactly have they accomplished?

@steptoe ~”Overhauled the state’s ethics laws”

Then promptly ignored or broke them and continues to do so.

@steptoe ~”Developed a competitive process to construct a gas pipeline.”

She gave away a half a billion dollars to a foreign company without even a requirement to build a gasline.  A company that doesn’t have any gas, financing or customers.  A company that isn’t even likely to receive the necessary government licenses.  A company that has close ties to Palin staffers.

@steptoe ~”Chaired the Interstate Oil and Gas Compact Commission.”

Which accomplished what exactly?

@stazec ~”..one of only a few current Governors in the country running a state surplus.

The state had a surplus when she took office.  She got lucky with the high oil prices, let’s see how she does when prices and revenue aren’t so high.  She is counting on prices to be almost double of what most forecasters are predicting for her 2009 budget.

@steptoe ~”libs know sarah is a powerful force, and that’s why the huff-post trolls have infested this site with lies, smears, and hopeful propaganda. nice try libs, but your zero class remarks will fail in the end.”

If anyone is an “infestation” here [ADN], it’s the idiot parade from teamsarah.org. Most of the posters here [ADN] that are and have been critical of Queen P came long before she was even a twinkle in the eye of McCain or any of the Paliban were even aware of her.  Thankfully we only have to put up with her another two years as governor, and that will be the end of the story for her and her groupies.

@steptoe ~ “Palin/jindal 2012″

Also commonly known as Dumb/Dumber 2012.

@steptoe ~ “Sarah has a leadership aura. she is so engaged with everything, and brings that charismatic charm wherever she goes.”

Oh please stop. Sara ra ra has no clue about leadership.  Ask her what leadership is and she’ll stutter and stammer for 15 minutes before finally saying “I’ll get back to you on that”

@steptoe ~”Sarah is all class. she loves all americans!”

No she doesn’t.  She only loves “Real Americans” as SHE defines them.

@steptoe ~”She isn’t some liberal snob that try’s to control us.”

Really? She doesn’t want to control what women can do with there bodies?  She doesn’t want to control who consenting adults can marry?  She doesn’t want to control what people do in the privacy of their own homes?  Yeah, she doesn’t want to control people the same way the Taliban doesn’t want to control people.

Application to join TeamSarah.org

Posted by: emperor in Palin

Team Sarah

Team Sarah is a coalition of women dedicated to advancing the values that Sarah Palin represents in the political process. Men welcome too!

So I just applied to join TeamSarah.org, what do you think my chances are of being accepted? None, since I was honest in my application and provided them a link back to this site. So why did I apply? To prove a point about Palin supporters in general, TeamSarah.org in particular and Palin herself specifically.  They have no room for dissenting opinion.  To them, everyone that doesn’t agree with Sarah, is a ‘hater’.  They have no problem making personal attacks on others (Monegan), or swarming blogs with their comments (ADN Politics), while at the same time nobody is welcome in their inner sanctum that doesn’t genuflect in the direction of Queen P.  You can’t even get past the front page of teamsarah.org without having your application accepted.  Given the turnover in Palin’s administration, I think we can surmise that she doesn’t value or even tolerate dissenting opinion in her court either.

We need leaders that are willing to accept constructive criticism, embrace dissent and are capable of responding in a logical, intelligent and honest manner to questions or challenges.  Palin is not that kind of leader.  Those that support and defend her most remind me of those that are members of any cult.
