Palmer aptly names celebration

It was a week ago but the Palmer annual celebration of Colony Day now seems so appropriate!

Alaska IS a colony.  A colony of what used to be The United States of America.  Now it’s not so much “United” as a loose confederation of “Red” and “Blue” states in which economic progress is blockaded by neo-Luddites enamored of The Great Global Warming Swindle.

Lots of talk about building a natural gas pipeline.  Just as there once was a lot of talk about building an oil pipeline.  That actually happened but only after (then) Vice President Spiro Agnew cast the deciding vote in The Senate.

<> Then there’s ANWR.  The Former USA is now owned by OPEC and a few dictatorships with their hands on the oil cash register.  But ANWR sits “pristine”.  Oh, it came close once but it was vetoed by (then) President William Jefferson (how aptly named) Clinton.  There’s a pretty good chance, as I see it, that the present Trans-Alaska Oil Pipeline  will be either worn out or  have  been removed due to non-use before ANWR is drilled — if ever.  Wouldn’t that be fun!  Authority granted to tap a domestic natural resource but impossible because the pipeline has been removed.  To build a new one would require leaping impossible “environmental” hurdles that are cleverly designed to prevent such things.

Yes, welcome to Colony Days!
