There are many good resources for Linux and Ubuntu users on-line, we’ve listed some of the best in our “Blog Roll” to the right . However, most of them are written by and for people with more than just a little computer experience, particularly experience in Linux operating systems. While I have hosted websites on Linux machines for many years, I’m just now getting started with Ubuntu on the desktop.

Along with my two sons, together we are taking older PC’s and configuring them for use with the Ubuntu desktop. You can find out more about that at our website 3C Computer Recycling. What we will do with this blog is document some of the things that we find to be useful, interesting and unique about Ubuntu and Open Source Software.

So for this first post we’ll start with the location for the various options getting Ubuntu. You can download it to burn it a CD, request a free CD or purchase a CD from numerous sources. We recommend a new clean install if your machine has already had another operating system installed. A good tool for formatting your hard drive can be downloaded for free from KillDisk.Com.
